• Classroom Behavior
  • Please show up on time.
  • Please silence your cell phone.
  • Please try to refrain from coming and going from the room during the class time.
  • Please do not talk while the instructor is explaining a math concept.
  • Please do not make remarks that might be considered discriminatory.
  • Please do not come to class under the influence of marijuana or alcohol.

• Attendance: If a student misses class during the first two weeks of the semester, then the student shall be dropped from the class.
• Students should speak to the professor in person when communicating with the professor. If a student uses email to communicate with the professor, then the student should use his or her OCC email account.
• Tests and Grading: Below is a tentative listing of the points possible for the course. The Final exam is given on the last day of class. It will not be given at any other day or time. The number of tests given may be changed and the points for quizzes may be changed. The total points for the class may be changed.
  • Chapter Tests 1-8 (60 points each): 600 points
  • Final Exam: 200 points
    
  • Total Points 800 points

  It is very important that students take the tests with the class on the scheduled date. If a student does miss a test, a make-up test will be given during the last week of the semester. The make-up test will not be the same as the original test, and it will be more difficult. Students may only miss one test, including the final exam, for the entire summer session. If a student misses a second test, regardless of the reason, the student will be given a zero for that test.

  It is the student's responsibility to come to class to find out the test dates. If you cannot come to class, please contact another student to find out if any important announcements were made.

  The Final grade in the class is determined by the following scale.
  

  • A 90-100%
    
  • B 80-89%
    
  • C 70-79%
    
  • D 60-69%
    
  • F 0-59%

• Incompletes. There will be no grades of incompletes given. If a student misses the final exam then the student will be given a grade of F in the class.

• Calculators will not be allowed during tests.

• Academic Dishonesty: If you are caught cheating on a test, you will get a zero on that test. Moreover, this test score cannot be made up. A report will be submitted to the Dean of Students. An electronic copy of your completed exams will be made for my records.

• Gifts: All gifts will be returned.

• Student Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to:
  1. Use matrix algebra and row-reduction methods to solve linear systems.
  2. Solve linear systems, including under- and over-determined systems.
  3. Prove lemmas and corollaries in linear algebra.
  4. Relate linear transformations to their matrices with respect to given bases.
  5. Describe linear transformations as functions mapping an n-dimensional space to an m-dimensional space.
